Yummy Mummy cereal was the last of the General Mills monster-themed cereals to be introduced. The cereals began with Count Chocula and Franken Berry in 1971. Boo Berry and Fruit Brute came out in 1973 and 1974, receptively. Then more than a decade later in 1988, Yummy Mummy appeared. Shortly after it's introduction, the name of cereal was elongated to Fruity Yummy Mummy.

Red Owl was a grocery store chain in the United States, headquartered in Hopkins, Minnesota. Founded in 1922, it was initially owned and operated by a private investment firm affiliated with General Mills, and purchased in 1968 by Gamble-Skogmo.

"The crunchy cereal that smiles back at you." According to a description from the March 22, 1976 issue of Time Magazine, "Later this year Ralston will introduce... Grins & Smiles & Giggles & Laughs, which (or so kids will be told) stream from the mouth of a 'computer-type monster' named Cecil when his 'funny bone' is tickled."

It's a mashup of two childhood favorites: the infamous feces-dyeing monster cereal Franken-Berry with the 70's-80's sci-fi TV sensation Battlestar Galactica. Shiny robot marauders need to eat a complete breakfast, too, y'know! And yes, the "toy surprise" robot-dog, featured in the show, was in fact a chimpanzee in a full-body costume and helmet! Creepy!
