This magnificent cousin of ours is critically endangered. The mountain gorilla is found in the Virunga volcanic mountains of Central Africa.

Silver Back Male Mountain Gorilla, Gorilla gorilla beringei, Hirwa Group. This is the leader of the family and the group is named after him. This is a group of 22 individuals with three Silver Backs.
