Vineyard grapes ripening for harvest. I visited a local estate winery in the fall. My goal was to capture images of grapes in the vineyard before harvest. Timing is critical, picking the grapes at peak sugar content in the vineyard for the wineries. Turns out so is my timing for the grapes. This was second trip to the winery for the photo. The year before, I visited the winery and the grapes had been eaten by the birds before they had a chance to harvest! These grape vines will look great framed and hanging on your wall in your home or office or produced on a variety of products. The vineyard (Like everything else on Magpie Springs) when we took it on in 2013 required EXTENSIVE work!!....its taken 5 yrs to get on top of the vineyard..... We have resuscitated the vines now!... When we came the posts were rotten the wires were broken the irrigation didn't work, the vines badly needed feeding - nothing worked but we knew the plants themselves with TLC would recover... they needed a LOT of work! These are some of the Cordons removed to produce healthy growth. We literally had tons and tons of these piles to burn during winter. Fresh, but vintage!

PEACEful in the garden. I am happy with this work. This is the third year at this time that I have spent capturing, digitally the grapevine. September is upon us, and it is beautiful here on Prince Edward Island. While perfectly content in our garden, we recently took a road trip, through Evangeline, and saw the sun sparkling on Egmont Bay. This week is our 10th wedding anniversary, and our dear Amanda starts at UPEI. If you like my work, this would be a good time to buy it!

Pinot Noir grapes close to vintage at Magpie Springs. These grape bunches are a dence cluster recognizably different in structure to Merlot bunches which are much looser.

So early after spring bud burst - the grapes for the coming vintage are already formed. This minuscule little cluster will fill, change colour early next year and be part of our next Vintage.
