Mustafar was a small planet located in the Mustafar system, within the Atravis sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories. Once a garden world nourished by the Bright Star artifact, its orbit was shifted when Lady Corvax unleashed the energies of the Bright Star in an attempt to return her husband to life. The resulting gravimetric duel between the gas giants Jestefad and Lefrani over Mustafar heated the planet's core, transforming the lush world into an imbalanced volcanic hellscape. Adapting to life on their devastated homeworld, the arthropodal Mustafarians evolved into two distinct subspecies that cooperated to ensure their continued survival.

Damask Holdings was a company established by 65 BBY. In that year, as part of a joint venture between the company and the Naboo people of the Mid Rim planet Naboo to expand plasma refining on the planet, Damask Holdings helped with the construction of the plasma refinery complex located in Naboo's capital city, Theed. The refinery complex enriched Naboo, but posed a threat to the profits of the Trade Federation company. Prior to the Clone Wars, Damask Holdings also established a base on the volcanic and mineral-rich Outer Rim Territories planet Mustafar.

SoroSuub Corporation was a Sullust-based company whose tech division developed and manufactured a great variety of technological goods, from droids and sensors to weapons and vehicles. The company was owned by the even larger Commerce Guild, a conglomerate of retailers, arms manufacturers, agricorps, and other service providers. During the Clone Wars, SoroSuub's Sullustan Home Guard, led by Admiral Dua Ningo, threw its support behind the armed forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, as part of the Commerce Guild's arrangement, and was charged with defending both the Sullust sector and the company's interests.

Initially called the Chosen One known as Anakin Skywalker before falling to the Dark Side and becoming the Evil Sith Lord known as Darth Vader.
