Pen-y-ghent is the lowest of Yorkshire's Three Peaks, but usually the first climbed on the circular Three Peaks walk. It is seen here with the adjacent Plover Hill on an August morning, from the Ingleborough path near the railway station.

Lovers of the original Dracula novel will recognise this place instantly; Whitby Abbey with it's strong Gothic connections and the scene of the Count's downfall.

The River Swale lends it's name to the local valley of Swaledale, which is one of the northernmost dales in Yorkshire Dales National Park. The river flows through the market town of Richmond North Yorkshire where it flows over a number of falles on its way down the valley towards the North Sea.

The waterfall at Hawes in Yorkshire. Hawes Falls is a small waterfall on Gayle Beck as it passes through the centre of the Wensleydale market town of Hawes. Hawes is England's highest market town at 850 feet above sea level.

Staithes in North Yorkshire is famous as an artist's community and it is a place that I love to visit as often as possible. This graphite sketch was the preliminary to works in watercolour and acrylic but the spontaneity of this version has prove hard toi beat in conveying the sense of this fabulous stretch of the UK coastline.

The waterfalls on the River Swale and it makes its way through the North Yorkshire town of Richmond is a popular Summer tourist attraction for people visiting North Yorkshire

The North Yorkshire Coast is one of my favourite places to visit and, of course to paint. This acrylic work shows Runswick Bay a popular spot for dog-walkers and fossil hunters alike. The subtle colours will work anywhere and the piece almost has the feel of a watercolour.
