Dryad

The farmer and her fox.

A dryad is a nymph or spirit from Greek mythology who is associated with trees and forests. Dryads are believed to be the physical embodiment of the tree they inhabit and are typically depicted as young, beautiful women. They are shy creatures who are protective of their trees and may punish those who harm them. In some myths, dryads can communicate with other forest creatures and have the ability to shape-shift into trees or animals.
