Cromer Pier, Norfolk, UK An aerial view of this amazing pier sat in the North Sea in Cromer on the East coastline of the UK. Cromer Pier is a Grade II listed seaside pier in the civil parish of Cromer on the north coast of the English county of Norfolk, 25 miles due north of the city of Norwich in the United Kingdom. The pier is the home of the Cromer Lifeboat Station and the Pavilion Theatre. I know the sea does not look very inviting but the colour is mainly down to the fine sand and a bit of silt but on a nice sunny day the blue reflects from the sky and makes it look a lot more appealing. Looking 90 metres down the cliff through the cutting to the remains of the jetty from which a flying fox was used to lift construction materials and supplies for the Cape Du Couedic lighthouse. The jetty was constructed in 1907 and was in use until an overland road was constructed to the lighthouse in the mid 1940s. Pier Paolo Pasolini was one of the most famous Italian film directors, but he was also an important poet and writer. Pasolini lived in a turbulent time, and he navigated it with courage.

Huntington Beach was certainly a busy place, even on the Tuesday morning we spent there. Beach volleyballers jumped around in the sand nearby as surfers clad in wetsuits braved the waves on both sides of the pier. I liked standing underneath the pier though, watching the waves crashing towards me as the noise of the world around me died away.
