Power Records Tapestries

Power Records was a related label, featuring characters licensed from DC Comics and Marvel Comics, and contemporary movies and television series (such as Kojak, Planet of the Apes, The Six Million Dollar Man, Space: 1999, and Star Trek), in stories geared toward older children. The book-and-record sets frequently featured original 20-page comic books along with an extended-play 7" record of the story. Playing the record while reading along in the book brought the story to life through music and sound effects.[4] There were also other 7" single releases. Besides book-and-record sets, LPs were produced, featuring the recorded stories without illustrations.

Who doesn’t like listening to music on vinyl? Growing up I have fond memories of listing to the likes of Weird Al Yankovic, Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, Motley Crue and the WWF Wrestling Album to name a very few. But I also have some good memories of listening to comic books on vinyl…I am sure you long time comic readers remember Power Records released by Peter Pan Records as kids of the 70’s and 80’s grew up with these.

Power Supply is Budgie's eighth studio album, released in October 1980 on Active Records, a sublabel of RCA Records (which was the distributor of A&M Records — Budgie's previous label — at the time). This is the first album without original guitarist Tony Bourge, who left the band in 1978 after the album Impeckable.

Power Records released a series of Planet of the Apes stories using their 'Book & Record' format in 1974, each of which covered one of the four films that had been released at the time. Like other Book & Record offerings, the sets included a 45 rpm record and a comic book. The record narrated the comic through sound effects, audio dialogue, and a backing soundtrack. In addition to the 45 rpm versions, a 12" 33 rpm compilation record combining all four Arthur P. Jacobs films adapted by Power Records. Like other Power Records' Book & Record sets, the Planet of the Apes are highly desirable collectables, not just due to their pop culture value, but because complete sets with both the record and comic are hard to come by.
