Prince Albert Tapestries

*Albert Memorial, Swanage, February 2022* This Purbeck stone obelisk in Swanage (Dorset, England) is a memorial to Prince Albert (consort to Queen Victoria) who died in 1861. Originally built the year after Albert's death, the obelisk was dismantled in 1971, but rebuilt 50 years later in 2021. The memorial stands overlooking Swanage Bay. Date: 27th February 2022.

The Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company was an American brewery based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and once the largest producer of beer in the United States. Its namesake beer, Schlitz , was known as "The beer that made Milwaukee famous" and was advertised with the slogan "When you're out of Schlitz, you're out of beer".Schlitz first became the largest beer producer in the US in 1902 and enjoyed that status at several points during the first half of the 20th century, exchanging the title with Anheuser-Busch multiple times during the 1950s.

Prince Albert was married to Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and theirs was a 1800s famous love story.

From an original Engraving from the Illustrated London News December 1848 The publication of this image spread the use of Christmas Trees like wildfire, and led wrongly to the belief that Albert had introduced the Christmas Tree to Britain. It was actually Queen Charlotte, the German born wife of George III, for a party she held in 1800 Please note there may be some age related marks from the original which will show also on any print ordered. This is inevitable with prints of this age & actually lends an authentic look to the print in my opinion.

Master builder Thomas Cubitt was approached to demolish the old house and build the magnificent Italianate mansion that is today maintained by English Heritage. The house (near East Cowes on the Isle of Wight) has extensive grounds and a private beach overlooking the Solent where the Queen regularly bathed and her children learned to swim. The sumptuously furnished royal apartments must be seen to be believed and it was here in 1878 that Alexander Graham Bell demonstrated his new invention (the telephone) to the Queen.
