Taken in Leeds West Yorkshire, these are a remnant from when Leeds was seeing itself as the Car City of the North. The A58 rips itself thorough the heart of the city and creates a gash of speeding motorway that tears the city asunder. Foot bridges like these with ramps and stair access were constructed to allow pedestrians to deal with the monstrous road roaring beneath them. Today they look tired and worn out often festooned with graffiti, in the words of Paul Simon THE WORDS OF THE PROPHETS. Taken on A Canon EOS 70D this image contains 7 exposures blended together in HDR FEx Pro 2 which was then transferred to SIlver FEx Pro 2 for the mono conversion and before being resized in On1's Resize 10 module using the Genuine Fractals engine...

A footbridge crossing the Kennet and Avon Canal in Berkshire produced as an impressionist painting. The ramps each side are so that the horses pulling the boats along the canal could cross to the towpath on the opposite bank. The canal, 87 miles long, was constructed between 1794 and 1810 to link the Thames and Avon rivers, providing a smooth transport link between Bristol and London via Reading. Restored during the late 1900s it was fully re-opened for traffic in 1990.

The 1970s were a golden age of bike riding for Generation X, kids exploring their neighborhoods on their bicycles, relishing the freedom, fun, and adventure of the time. Safety regulations were less strict, and helmets were optional, leaving riders free to feel the wind in their hair and the sun on their faces. Kids built jumps out of old wooden planks, bricks, and cinderblocks, and customized their bikes with sissy bars, banana seats, and handlebar grips. Wheelies and stunt riding were the ultimate show of skill, and successful attempts would earn bragging rights for days.
