I always thought the art was strong enough to stand on it's own, but have only now come back to it and revised it into a stand alone piece. By the year 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Each of our actions can make a small difference. If we all chose eco-friendly alternatives to plastic straws we’d alleviate the flow of this plastic waste culprit into our seas.

The Great Wave Off Kanagawa is an artwork that has seeped into the public eye so much so that it even has an emoji. The original image is a woodblock print by the Japanese artist Hokusai. It was published sometime between 1829 and 1833. Today its image and its style crops up all over the art world. Given that the sea is featured so prominently in this image I wanted to show how much an image like this is suffering under the pressure of the modern world and if the scene took place today it could well be swimming in plastic pollution. I’ve created this design to raise awareness and contribute to fighting the causes and supporting the solutions to the horrendous problem of plastic pollution
