“A spirit of national masochism prevails, encouraged by an effete corps of impudent snobs who characterize themselves as intellectuals.” This design refers to a statement made by Spiro Agnew, Richard Nixon’s Vice President, on October 19, 1969. His words were in regards to anti-war protestors at the height of the Vietnam War and said protestors were quick to embrace the 'Effete Snob' label through t-shirts, buttons, and banners that could be seen during their protests and demonstrations.

Spiro Theodore Agnew ( November 9, 1918 – September 17, 1996) was an American politician who served as the 39th Vice President of the United States from 1969 to 1973, under President Richard Nixon. Agnew soon found his role as the voice of the so-called "silent majority," and by late 1969 he was ranking high on national "Most Admired Men" polls. At this point, my titles are pretty much what my designs remind me of in the moment! This, as always, was hand-drawn using sharpies and a spirograph kit with mild digital color corrections.
