The speedway opened its doors on May 18, 1947, as a dirt track with the first official event promoted as a modified race, including heat races and a feature event. While an attendance of about 3,000 people was expected, a crowd in excess of 10,000 showed up to see one of the famous Flock brothers compete (and ultimately win the race). The track is just 5/8 of a mile around and features a unique uphill backstretch and downhill frontstretch that played into it's reputation as one of the fastest short-tracks of the '40s and '50s. The original dirt oval was paved in 1957 and continued to operate until the track's closure in 1996.

Super Stock & Drag Illustrated was founded by John "Monk" Reynolds, publisher of Eastern Drag News and owner of Pennsylvania's US30 drag strip. Riverside International Raceway (sometimes known as Riverside, RIR, or Riverside Raceway) was a motorsports race track and road course established in the Edgemont area of Riverside County, California, just east of the city limits of Riverside and 50 miles east of Los Angeles, in 1957. In 1984, the raceway became part of the newly incorporated city of Moreno Valley. Riverside was noted for its hot, dusty environment and for being a somewhat complicated and dangerous track for drivers, but was also considered one of the finest tracks in America. The track was in operation from September 22, 1957, to July 2, 1989.

Bill Casler owned Casler Tire Service in Ontario, California where he was a pioneer in creating street legal racing tires by way of custom recaps. These tires would later become known as cheater slicks or more precisely, Casler Cheater Slicks. His signature molds would go on to be THE tires to run in the popular Super Stock racing circuits as well as with hardcore hot rodders and street racers. This design is an homage to Casler's original low-fi logo and a perfect throwback for any motorsports aficionado that knows their stuff. Race on!

Westboro Speedway was built by five World War II vets on 35 acres of former farmland in Westborough, Massachusetts. The track started out hosting midget racing, but eventually full size stock car racing became the track's primary focus. In addition to motorsports, Westboro Speedway also hosted countless rock concerts over the years. Like most racetracks, what was once a rural location was eventually surrounded by suburban sprawl that didn't take kindly to the raucous activities that went on there. That, coupled with the land being worth more to developers saw the track close its doors for good in 1985.

Don Edmunds was an American racecar driver who had his first start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1957. He won the 1957 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year after finishing nineteenth, though Edmunds' Indy career ended with a serious practice accident at the Speedway the following year. In 1963, he founded Autoresearch in Anaheim, California, which specialized in building midget cars and sprint cars. Edmunds created the blueprints and did most of the fabrication work on the original Bill Thomas Cheetah prototype sports car racer. His chassis won several National Midget Championships in the late '60s and early '70s. Additionally, Edmunds was a prolific constructor of Formula Super Vee cars well into the '80s.
