Happy I painted this hydrangea bush, because it is not there anymore. We still have lots in other places in the garden. It seems to be a wise old plant.

In the Garden

Our friend Sally dropped off these lovely tulips on a cold wintery day. Was just what I needed to paint and to think of spring on it's way.

This bindweed grows wild around our front yard and porch. Admire it's life force.

A Peacock Gladiolus

The Oxalis or Shamrock Plant with Bob in the living room.

Fuchsia

Stockings were new for us this year. I had as a child, and always enjoyed. They were a hit, so we now have a new tradition.

This painting was done from a photograph taken by Amanda who also planted the garden that these snapdragons are in. She was interested in capturing the fly because it kept flying in and out of the snap dragon blooms. I thought this was cool, and I had never Painted a fly before.

I love Chinese Lanterns, that's why I paint them so often. The orange is so vibrant.

That time of year again: I am thankful the fuchsia continue to bloom.

Focussed on the blooming Christmas Cactus inside, while outside is all white with snow.

First sign of spring

Finally spring has arrived on Prince Edward Island:)

We are having a lovely summer. So thankful after such a intense winter. I choose to focus on the beauty and peace around me, in my art. I am not however blind to what is happening in my community, country, and earth. I am awake.

Late coming, but they are all so beautiful, that they make you forget the harsh winter.

Inspired by a snap shot my late husband Michael took on his dumb phone. He planted the bulbs in the forest behind his mother's house.. which is now my house. Spring has yet to arrive, it's March 1, 2023 when I am writing this updated description. It takes a longtime for the snow to melt in the spring, especially in the shade under the trees.

I love Dandelions. My mom did too. When I was little, and living in Collingwood, mom would cook dandelion greens. She understood me, why I was sad when we were shamed into cutting our lawn. I love the yellow happy flowers, and later when then go to seed. This painting is somewhat dark... I've been grieving her passing. It's a year now.

Budding Begonia

It is so nice being back in the garden. This work is inspired by a photo taken by my husband of our apple tree.

This was done at my mother in-law, Jean's place in the country. A different perspective for me with the field and trees in the background. This process of doing an image a week on my iPad is helpful for me emotionally.

While I wait for the spring bulbs outside, here is a pink blossom on the geranium inside.

Orchid A still life. Created on my iPad using artRage. It's been cloudy, cool, and wet. I was thinking of mom. The desk, owl and pot were hers. The orchid a gift from Muscular Dystrophy Canada. I painted it last year too. Love the orchid. My friend Paige names her orchids. I'm naming this one Lois:)

Made some changes this week. Did a collage using photos and my paintings. This is a personal piece, for healing. I used to do a lot of layering when I worked in photoshop 10-15 years ago. Am interested to see where it goes... Still working in artRage on an iPad

Wild Aster

The temperature is frigid outside, while the amaryllis buds inside.

Now the colder weather has arrived, I have moved inside to paint. My husband has also brought the inside plants indoors. This hibiscus plant has been in the family over 20 years. It is magnificent!

Loving the Green

Even after it had snowed and melted two times, these Chinese Lanterns kept their incredibly vibrant orange colour.
