Waterslide Tapestries

A natural water slide refers to a naturally occurring slope or channel of water, usually found in a river or stream, that people can slide down for recreation and fun. These natural water slides are often made of smooth rocks or gravel and are considered a safer alternative to man-made water slides. Some popular natural water slides can be found in parks, campgrounds, and scenic areas, attracting adventure-seekers and nature enthusiasts.

Action Park was an amusement and water park located in Vernon Township, New Jersey, United States, on the grounds of the Vernon Valley/Great Gorge ski resort. The park consisted primarily of water-based attractions and originally opened to the public in 1978, under the ownership of Great American Recreation (GAR). Many of its attractions were unique, attracting thrill-seekers from across the New York metropolitan area. Action Park's popularity went hand-in-hand with a reputation for poorly designed rides, under-trained and under-aged staff, intoxicated guests and staff, and a consequently poor safety record. At least six people are known to have died as a result of mishaps on rides at the park.

Anyone who has lived in western Washington knows that water parks aren't exactly compatible with the weather, and having one open for the few months that you *may* have warm enough temps to enjoy them isn't really economically viable. While that may be the case, that didn't stop developers from building one in Issaquah, Washington back in 1984. Located at the south end of Lake Sammamish and just off I-90 in an area that is now just one ginormous business park, Waterworks Park claimed to offer more than a mile of waterslides. Built on a massive pile of excavated earth from the Mount Baker Tunnel project in Seattle, the park was sitting on an artificial mountain on land that would all too soon be too valuable, leading to its closure in 1988.

A piece inspired by my time at a British holiday park in the summers of my youth. A painting full of bright and bold colours that will certainly cheer you up.
