Black and white animal ink illustration of a Grevy's zebra foal. Drawn using one of my own photographs as reference, I used mostly Sakura pigma micron marker pens and a brush pen for the darkest areas. The Grévy's zebra is the largest of the three species of zebra and is distinctive due to it's narrow stripes and large ears. They live in the semi-arid grasslands of Kenya and Ethiopia, Africa. They are an endangered species with estimated less than 3000 left in the wild.

'A Watchful Eye' is a graphite pencil drawing. Highly detailed, it shows a Plains or Burchell's Zebra, from the rear, looking over his shoulder. As a prey animal always in danger, at least one of a zebra group will maintain a vigilant watch while the rest go about their business.
