The 210th Aviation Battalion was partially formed from the assets of the provisional CAPITAL Aviation battalion at Tan Son Nhut and served with the 1st Aviation Battalion . On 15 January 1966 the battalion was assigned to the 12th Aviation Group and moved to Long Thanh. In July 1971 the unit was transferred to the 165th Aviation Group. It provided fixed wing aircraft support to III Corps and IV CTZ.

The 6th Psychological Operations Battalion was a command-and-control unit under US Army - VIETNAM, Special Troops and baded at Tan Son Nhut until 1969 when it moved to Ben Hoa, They provided psychological operations support in the III Corps Tactical Zone.

The battalion departed Fort Bliss, Texas for overseas service and arrived at Vung Tau, Vietnam on 5 May 1968, and was directed to Xuan Loc to back up and construct the Black Horse Base Camp for the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. The battalion was responsible for III CTZ airmobile equipment support and construction support under the 159th and 79th Engineer Groups just north of Saigon. The unit moved to Phước Vĩnh on 20 October 1968 and to Long Binh in mid-1971 where it remained until it departed Vietnam for return to the United States. After nearly four years of service in Vietnam, the battalion returned to Fort Lewis, Washington, and was inactivated there on 12 March 1972.

The 50th Infantry Regiment is a United States Army infantry regiment. Reorganized and redesignated 1 July 1963 as the 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry Relieved 1 September 1967 from assignment to the 2d Armored Division for duty in the Republic of Vietnam. Served under the 3d Brigade, 4th Infantry Division [Binh Dinh and Kontum Provinces] Mar 1968 - Apr 1968.

5th Battalion, 60th Infantry (Mechanized Dec. 1966 – 12 September 1968; Infantry 13 September 1968 – October 1970) Activated at Fort Riley, Kansas, and assigned to the 9th Infantry Division for its deployment to the Republic of Vietnam in December 1966. The 9th Division was the only major U.S. combat unit to conduct operations in the Mekong Delta. On 13 September 1968, the 5th/60th Mech was "swapped" with the 1st/16th of the 1st Infantry Division. From then until August 1970, the 5th/60th operated as a "straight leg" infantry unit.

During the Vietnam War, the 1st Battalion, 46th Infantry and the 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry were part of the Americal Division. Both initially deployed to Vietnam with the 198th Infantry Brigade from Fort Hood, Texas. But the 1-46th was placed under operational control of the 196th Infantry Brigade (Light) and later became fully a part of the 196th Brigade. Though the 5-46th left Vietnam when the Americal Division cased its colors in the fall of 1971, the 1-46th deployed to Da Nang with the rest of the 196th. The 1-46th left Vietnam in June 1972.

From September through November 1966 the soldiers of "Tropic Lightning" participated in Operation Attleboro, East of Tay Ninh City, in War Zone C. In 1967, the 25th and 4th Divisions, both located in the Pleiku area swapped and interchanged men, equipment and commands of a number of units. By the end of 1970 a large portion of Tropic Lightning soldiers had returned stateside to their base at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. By 9 June the following year, the newly formed company set up its headquarters inside the 5th SFG compound at Nha Trang Bay, Republic of Vietnam. The unit's mission was to provide air movement of troops, supplies and equipment under the direct supervision of the commanding officer, 5th SFG. The 281st became the first organized special operations helicopter unit in the U.S. Army. Army historians consider the 281st to be the legacy unit for today's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), abbreviated as 160th SOAR(A).

October 1971 brings to a close a proud and gallant record of combat service in Vietnam for the 14th Combat Aviation Battalion. Members of the Battalion have engaged the Enemy from Nha Trang to the Khe Sanh and into the Kingdom of Loas over the past seven years. These engagements have taken their toll. The 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry, was originally constituted on 15 May 1917 in the Regular Army as Company E, 46th Infantry. October 1967 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry, and activated at Fort Hood, TX (its organic elements were concurrently constituted and activated). The battalion was assigned on 31 March 1968 to the 198th Infantry Brigade. It was relieved on 15 February 1969 from assignment to the 198th Infantry Brigade and assigned to the 23d Infantry Division for Vietnam Combat duty.

The 6th Battalion 33rd Artillery was reactivated on 1 September 1967 at Ft. Carson, Colorado. The battalion sailed towards Vietnam aboard the USNS Upshur arriving at Red Beach, DaNang on 21 February 1968. The battalion’s first round in Vietnam was fired by C Battery on 28 February 1968 from Marine Camp Brooks in support of the 1st Marine Division. On 4 March 1968 the battalion deployed to LZ Sharon near Quang Tri. The battalion fired its 100,000th round in Vietnam on 28 July 1968, 157 days after arriving in country. In November 1968 the battalion headquarters elements displaced from LZ Sharon to Phu Bai. The Battalion served in Vietnam for more than 2 years.

UH-34D was accepted by the Marine Corps on December 21, 1962 at the Sikorsky factory in Stratford, CT and assigned to the Purple Foxes of HMM-364. It was flown across country to its new base at MCAF Santa Ana. In September 1963 it deployed with HMM-364 to MCAS Futenma, Okinawa. In December 1963 it was transferred to the Flying Tigers of HMM-361 where they remained at Futenma until they were sent aboard the USS Valley Forge (LPH-8) for combat operations off Vietnam. ‘219 returned to the Purple Foxes aboard USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2) with continued combat operations off Vietnam.

The exact number of sappers involved is uncertain, but most sources agree that there were at least 50. The battle at FSB Mary Ann inflicted serious losses on the defenders, who suffered 33 killed and 83 wounded.
