Bookbinding is a hobby where stacks of paper sheets are folded together into sections called signatures to create books or a codex. A great pastime for creating or improving and customizing your favorite book and cover.

A portrait of Jane Austen made entirely from bits of marbled paper. This is based on Cassandra's portrait of her literary sister so should hopefully have a good likeness and I have given her a regency style garland frame.

The imposing home of the Bronte sisters entirely collaged in marbled bookbinding paper. It gives a bit of an impressionistic feel.I've tried to give a sense of light coming from the house against the backdrop of a bleak day in Yorkshire. The front door is white now, but was dark when the Bronte's lived there. I've kept the door dark so the eye is drawn and it invites the viewer in.

Barbara Pym, the forgotten face of mid Twentieth Century British Literature collaged in marbled bookbinding paper. Philip Larkin said he would rather read a new Barbara Pym than a new Jane Austen and yet she fell out of print in her lifetime.

The eminent Victorian novelist Charles Dickens entirely collaged in bookbinding marbled paper. He was apparently quite a dapper gentleman,although his beard is quite bonkers. This is based on a photograph from around 1865.
