The East India Trading Company, otherwise referred to as the East India Company or abbreviated as EITC, was a British joint-stock company and megacorporation formed for pursuing and monopolizing trade with the Indian subcontinent and East Indies, and later expanded to China and the Caribbean. The East India Company traded mainly in cotton, silk, indigo dye, salt, saltpetre, tea and opium. The Company was granted a Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I on December 31, 1600. Shares of the Company were owned by wealthy merchants and aristocrats.

The United East India Company was a chartered company established on the 20th March 1602 by the States General of the Netherlands amalgamating existing companies into the first joint-stock company in the world, granting it a 21-year monopoly to carry out trade activities in Asia. Shares in the company could be bought by any resident of the United Provinces and then subsequently bought and sold in open-air secondary markets. It is sometimes considered to have been the first multinational corporation. It was a powerful company, possessing quasi-governmental powers, including the ability to wage war, imprison and execute convicts, negotiate treaties, strike its own coins, and establish colonies.

The 1600's witnessed the birth of the world's first corporations. An era of Monopolies - giants of trade and global commerce. Corporations like the Hudson bay company, the Dutch East India Company, and others wielded unimaginable economic and military power in a world where many of the lines of statehood and imperialist conquest had yet to be inked. Many comparisons can be drawn from the Merchant empires and monopolies of old to the rise of contemporary global mercantile giants such as Amazon and Walmart, and this design is a throwback to the now infamous logo of the British East India Company, translated into a modern context, but intending to keep the same powerful yet perhaps sinister meaning behind it.

The East India Company was the company that stole resources and products from English colonies (and those who were colonized) to make lots of money! The original corporate/multinational threat!

Boston Tea Party. 19th-century illustration of the destruction of tea in Boston Harbour on 16 December 1773, an event known as the Boston Tea Party. This was a political protest by a group of colonists in defiance of the British requirement to purchase tea from the East India Company. This was one of the events that led to the outbreak of open warfare two years later in 1775 as part of the American Revolution (1775-1783). Did you know: The Black Pearl, originally Wicked Wench, is a fictional ship in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. In the screenplay, the Black Pearl is easily recognized by her distinctive black hull and sails. The ship was originally named Wicked Wench before she was ordered burned and sunk by Lord Beckett. She was later raised from the sea floor by Davy Jones after making a pact with Jack Sparrow who rechristened her the Black Pearl. She is said to be "nigh uncatchable".
