We have a beech tree in front of the house that delights year in, year out with its beautiful bright green unfolding foliage in the spring right through to its copper brown fall and winter foliage. The leaves fall eventually but many hang on right through the winter, with the dormant buds beside them holding the promise of another beautiful springtime display. Here is a photograph, digitally rendered as a splash watercolor, of two leaves on a branch, shot on a sunny, frosty December morning, with a slight edging of ice crystals on the leaves and branch.
