There is no doubt in my mind as to why Icelanders dubbed this waterfall Goðafoss, or "the waterfall of the gods." This was certainly a great way to spend a Friday evening and was one of the most memorable aurora displays I've seen to date! I also felt like it was quite an accomplishment to even get a night shot at ground level of Goðafoss. The spray here was so heavy that my gear was literally dripping afterwards, so trying to get a shot that wasn't obscured by spray on the lens was not easy!

The Cattle Jetty, Observation Point, Point Nepean, Portsea, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. Now just one section of the jetty remains and another section was washed away recently. The jetty is surrounded by drift wood that has been washed up around the structure. This morning some photographers told me that the second structure had recently been washed away, so i decided to go and check it out for myself.

Like so many places I'd visited in Lapland, Porjus (near Gällivare in Swedish Lapland) featured a perfectly calm lake that reflected the sun as it slowly dipped towards the horizon. While this looks like it could be midnight sun, this photo was actually taken around 9.30pm; now that the midnight sun period has finished, Lapland is losing light at a rapid 20 minutes per day! This particular place in Porjus is also a special place for me, since I have now visited it three times (twice in winter and once in summer), and it was the first place I ever visited in Lapland. You could say that it was the catalyst for the many Nordic adventures I've had over the last few years!

Reine turns a gorgeous blue colour as dawn slowly comes to Northern Norway in winter. The lights of the town have yet to turn off -- after all, why would they need to? It was only 9am!

The sun sets in front of Seljalandsfoss in southern Iceland, turning the entire waterfall into a giant piece of cotton candy. We were so lucky to get a good sunset on our one evening here!

Ahh, how's the serenity? Point Cartwright was a great place to spend Sunday morning watching the sun come up as the beach slowly became busier with people starting their morning routines, whether that be walking the dog or doing yoga.

Another scene from sunset on Cylinder Beach from our trip to Straddie a few weeks ago. This one was taken about 15 minutes before the previous one I posted while the sun was still above the horizon -- hence the significantly more yellow sky.

Happy Australia Day everyone! If you're here in Oz, I hope your day involves plenty of beach and BBQ time. This would have been the perfect way to start Australia Day, but since it's a bit rainy today I'm just looking back on my memories of Point Cartwright a few weeks ago.
