Did you know that some of the original 1966 Mothman sightings happened in Saint Albans, WV? This original artwork imagines that the allegedly haunted Lantz Lumber Company building is home to more than mere ghosts!

Like many cathedrals, St Albans Cathedral is the product of many generations of work. The present structure is mainly Norman in origin, but there are older Saxon elements and later Gothic construction. Included in the construction are Roman stone blocks, which were taken from the Roman fort that at one time existed just down the hill from the cathedral. Added to this are the many repairs over the centuries, so the cathedral exhibits many architectural styles. You can see in the image, for example, how the construction of the buttresses changes halfway along the nave. That said, I love the image because it rightly reflects how imposing the structure is.
