Inspired by the beautiful tapa cloth art (traditionally painted onto the beaten inner-bark of the paper mulberry tree). This is my take on this wonderful art form, featuring 2 icons of the Pacific region - sea turtles & hibiscus flowers.

New Zealand is a melting pot of cultures, including many from the Pacific islands. This is my tribute to some of the beautiful, traditional tapa cloth designs that have been a huge inspiration to me over the years.

Inspired by the beautiful tapa cloth art (traditionally painted onto the beaten inner-bark of the paper mulberry tree). This is my take on this wonderful art form, featuring 2 icons of the Pacific region - sea turtles & hibiscus flowers.

My green sea turtle design, with a frame inspired by the painted bark cloth designs of the South Pacfic. Pen and ink, colored pencil, digital, and acrylic were all employed to produce this.
