A radioactive actinide metal, thorium is one of only two significantly radioactive elements that still occur naturally in large quantities as a primordial element (the other being uranium). It was discovered in 1829 by the Norwegian amateur mineralogist Morten Thrane Esmark and identified by the Swedish chemist Jöns Jacob Berzelius, who named it after Thor, the Norse god of thunder. I'd been watching a video log on shooting waves and the chap mentioned about getting low... Thought that I'd use the same approach to get low on the whistling sands of my local beach... As the sun was setting I used a very fast vintage piece of glass, along with low ISO and low exposure. The aperture and time value was locked in as for convenience I was shooting Program mode and metering, I think was left on multi... This is the sunset and sand exposure that was produced... I've played around with basic settings on the computer... highlights, black point, sharpness and definition and not much else... The lens flare was something to be expected and appreciated rather than not - as personally I think it adds some originality to the...
