Furby is an American electronic robotic toy that was originally released in 1998 by Tiger Electronics. It resembles a hamster or owllike creature and went through a period of being a "must-have" toy following its holiday season launch, with continual sales until 2000. Over 40 million Furbies were sold during the three years of its original production, with 1.8 million sold in 1998, and 14 million in 1999. A newly purchased Furby starts out speaking entirely "Furbish", the unique language that all Furbies use, but is programmed to start using English words and phrases in place of Furbish over time., a process intended to resemble learning a language. A simple electric motor and a system of cams and gears close the Furby's eyes and mouth.

Rebel Retro Scum!

C.B. McHaul was a line of 3" action figures and vehicles introduced in 1977, the name being a play on country musician C.W. McCall. Featuring a line of good guy and bad guy truckers, along with their respective 18-wheelers, the line played into America's fascination with C.B. radios and truck driving in the '70s. The trucks featured a built-in C.B. style microphone that allowed kids to speak into it and come out of the speaker in the cab. Sadly, the C.B. craze was a rather short-lived national phenomenon, and by the time the line hit the market, the fad was already on its way out. As a result, production ended early, making these really rare pieces for toy collectors to seek out.

Takara (タカラ) was founded by Yasuta Satō in 1955 as Sato Vinyl with the motto "playing is culture," and one of his first successes was securing the license to produce a line of popular American dolls for the Japanese market. In 1960, they changed their name to Takara Vinyl, though this new name would be shortened to simply Takara in 1966. In the '70s, Takara exploded with new products, ranging from actions figures to transforming robots. Over the following decades, Takara would continue to grow and thrive through an increasingly convoluted chain of licensing, evolving, and re-licensing of toy franchises, some of which remain near impossible to unravel even today.

Toltoys is the name of the company responsible for distribution of vintage Star Wars toys in Australia and New Zealand.

In the mid '70s, the Six Million Dollar Man was all the rage, both on TV and as a play scale action figure. In 1976, Pulsar, the Ultimate Man of Adventure, came along as the off brand answer to Steve Austin. Pulsar stood a little taller than the Bionic Man, and instead of bionic parts, he had pumping veins with real fake blood that made his organs 'pulse.' Aside from that, his head flipped open like a waffle maker to reveal a 'laser disc player' where his mission discs could be loaded. They didn't actually do anything, but the concept was cool, especially for the '70s. So yeah, while Pulsar didn't have a network TV show or bionic parts, he did have clear chest skin that revealed his internal organs for some reason.
