"Yasuke arrived in Japan in 1579, coincidentally crossing paths with feudal lord and one of the first "Great Unifiers" of Japan, Oda Nobunaga. Eventually, he was shown favor and was allowed into the warrior clan. Colorism is still an issue in Japan, yet there is no denying the bond we share, with writing from even W.E.B DuBois saying in some ways it was a safe space. Before colonization the indigenous peoples of what is now called North and South America, had over a thousand tribes throughout the land, nearly 61 million people. Between only 1492 and 1600, nearly 90% of the indigenous people had died through disease carried over, enslavement or murder. Today, there are tribes still recognized across the land. Yggdrasill is its name,
a tall tree, showered
with shining loam.

that drop in the valleys.
It stands forever green over
Urðr's well.
- Völuspá of the Poetic Edda
