So this is another "inspired by recent climate-related science" piece. The article is about how agriculture has changed nearby ecosystems to favour quick eats and quick life spans, which also means generally smaller animals, etc. As a larger mammal who wants to live a long time, I find this generally concerning, but am not sure how it would directly impact my life. 🤷♀️
Anyways, bonus mid-semester art because my university has been down for the last *three days* (which is problematic because it's all online schooling for me right now). 🙃
For anyone curious, this guy is supposed to be an eastern cottontail and its habitat stretches up to the great lakes. 🥰🐇
here's the cool article inspiring this one: https://phys.org/news/2024-01-microbial-awakening-high-latitude-food.html?fbclid=IwAR3Ynm3UoVh0mh4Bke_8PXjj8hqpxlazoLwpdTzxvfMv6-qFkKgPTlgXr48
"Roe V Wade" Abortion Rights Natural Uterus Herbalism -- this design features plants (yarrow flowers, red raspberry leaves, mugwort, and parsley) that have been used for centuries by women to regulate and influence female reproductive cycles and physiology. Subtle, earthy, and deeply feminist.
"Patron Saint of Dead Rodents" Barred Owl and Oak Leaves Design. The skulls and bones are eastern cottontail (rabbit), red quirrel, and mouse! "Don't patron saints save things?? Why are the rodents dead??" "Because this owl SAVES THEM to eat later, ahahha." <<< literally a conversation in my house.

"Where Is Your Space Space?" Climate Change Apocalypse Design. When climate change is wrecking cities, societies, and where you live -- where will your safe space be? Maybe sometimes it's good to focus on individual solutions for staying alive, not just preventing damage.
"Mushroom Cabin" Foraging Nature Cottage Design. Chants, blewits, boletes, amanitas, morels, trumpets, lobsters, baby oysters and chicken, honey, witch butter, russula, and puffball! These are the fungi dreams are made of :) Retire to a cozy cabin and be happy in the outdoors.
"Nocturnal Familiars" Night Animals and Paw Prints Design. These are northern and boreal animals who like to come out at night. From moths to owls to flying squirrels, and the paw prints are the bigger nocturnal animals like cats and raccoons and skunks and coyotes. Perfect for a little or big environmentalist or nocturnal fiend.
"The Permafrost Is Melting" Punk Caribou Bones Patch Design. Bit of an experiment, but I love punk patches and think climate change and the apocalypse is a good conversation starter. Go, team.
"Hunter's Treasures" Forest Camping Nature Doodles Design. Tracking, hunting, berries, mushrooms - there's nothing like exploring and living in the woods.
