Wendy Carlos is a musician and composer known for her electronic music, film scores, and contribution to developing the Moog synthesizer, the first commercially available keyboard instrument. Carlos composed the score to two Stanley Kubrick films, A Clockwork Orange and The Shining, and also Tron for Walt Disney Productions. In 1979, Carlos was one of the first public figures to disclose having undergone gender reassignment surgery. Carlos collaborated with Weird Al Yankovic on a parody of Peter and the Wolf with Yankovic narrating and Carlos composing the music using a "MIDI orchestra". Also on the album was "The Carnival of the Animals–Part II", which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Album for Children in 1989.
