Testing is one of the most important things you can do to help end HIV. A lot of new HIV transmissions come from people who don’t know their status and aren’t on treatment. So testing often is important. Get tested at least twice a year, or more often if you haven’t been using condoms during sex.

Condoms. PrEP. U=U. Condoms and lube are the most effective way to protect yourself from HIV and most other STIs, like syphilis and gonorrhoea. When used consistently and correctly, condoms are extremely reliable. PrEP is a daily pill taken by HIV negative people, to prevent HIV. PrEP reduces the risk of HIV transmission by up to 99%, meaning you can enjoy sex knowing you’re protected from HIV. An undetectable viral load (U=U) is when the amount of HIV in a person’s blood is no longer able to be detected by a standard HIV viral load test. The benefits are living a long, healthy life and, if UVL can be maintained for six months or more, HIV is not transmitted to sexual partners.
