This is the character design for a guard for a fantasy story idea that I had. I liked not getting too engrossed in making it perfect and being more concerned with getting the idea out of my head. I also enjoyed putting in a little detail like the metal shading, while keeping it overall mostly loose as seen in the exploratory sketch lines that I left.

A princess character design from a fantasy story idea that I was once writing. I had a lot of fun playing with different material textures while working quickly to get the character on the page and keep it loose.

I did this quick sketch of Ruby the Macaw while at the San Diego Safari Park's Hidden Jungle. She was a cool old lady that I enjoyed seeing every time I went. I didn't draw all the time there because I found people always wanted to see what I was up to and this held up the lines. But luckily, I was able to get this 1-2 minute sketch in during one of my trips at a less busy time because I never saw her on display again after that.

This piece was inspired by Ellen's saying "be kind to one another." A few years ago, I sent her a letter along with this piece asking if I could have tickets to her show for my mom who is a huge fan (even bigger than me, and that's saying something!). My mom has tried since the show began to get tickets with no luck. In exchange I offered Ellen a drawing every week for a year for giveaways or to sell for charity or whatever. It's too bad I never heard anything back from the Ellen show because it would have meant the world to my mom. Anywho, I present this piece to you now. Words to live by. :)

My husband is a librarian and I used to be one, so it's no wonder that we love libraries and reading! This charming raccoon was a part of a library bulletin board that I designed. Perfect for any librarian and book lover!

I drew these kissing toucans for Valentine's Day, but really their love should be seen year around! This drawing came around when I thought: wouldn't it be cute if toucans kissed? Ooh, and what if their mouths formed a heart in the middle?

I have been sick with Covid-19. While I'm still having trouble breathing, I am very happy to present this first piece that I have been able to do since being diagnosed. It's great to be feeling well enough to share this with you. Named "Hello Bird!" because I'm saying hello and glad to be back!
