The plan was simple – take Yamaguchi’s lightweight trail bike, the Scrambler, and make it better. PABATCO designed and engineered the motorcycles from their Athena, Oregon headquarters, and Hodaka was responsible for the engines, manufacturing, and assembly in Japan. This resulted in Hodaka’s first model, the Ace 90, which arrived in the U.S. in 1964 and became an instant success thanks to its low cost and durability and depending on who you ask, laid the groundwork for America’s trail bike craze. Hodaka continued to improve upon their original design releasing about 18 variant models until a combination of events led to the demise of Hodaka in 1978.

Giggles Cookies were an American snack food that came about in the mid '80s, and were most likely based on a similar product sold in the UK for decades prior. They were sandwich cookies made with chocolate or vanilla outsides and two types of cream in the middle, and were named Giggles because the outside cookies had holes in the shapes of happy, laughing faces. Like a lot of the more obscure snack foods, it's unclear when Giggles had their last laugh, but we have seen evidence that they made it into the mid '90s in many markets.

Brewed by Cincinnati's own Schoenling Brewing Co., Little Kings was founded in 1958. Its distinctive 7-ounce green bottle was invented soon after when patrons at Montgomery Inn stated they'd prefer not to buy a full-sized bottle of beer to go with their shots of whiskey.

Manny's Musical Instruments and Accessories, Inc., or more commonly, Manny's Music, was a New York City music store that claimed to have 'everything for the musician,' and from what we've heard, that was very true. Since opening their doors in Midtown Manhattan in 1935, Manny's amassed a client list of big names in the music industry and they adorned their walls with nearly 75 years of photos of artists and producers who frequented the store. Whether you were a local looking for your first guitar or a drummer in town on a national tour in need of a few new cymbals, Manny's was the place to go until they sadly closed their doors for good in 2009.

R.A. and F.D. Stranahan are essentially the founders of Champion Spark Plug Company. Sort of. At the very least, they ended up with the patent on the Champion name which they legally and wisely used to eventually create the largest spark plug manufacturing company in the world. But it certainly didn’t start out that way. More than 20 thousand dollars in debt, and with a company that was fledgling along at best, the brothers had little choice but to move to Toledo when Willys-Overland Motor Company offered R.A. and F.D. a contract under which Champion would become the exclusive spark plug of automobiles manufactured at Willys-Overland. The deal came with the stipulation that the Stranahans must make Toledo their home.

Elsinore is the fictional brand of beer that the 1983 Canadian comedy movie Strange Brew is centered around. The story focuses on two unemployed brothers, Bob and Doug McKenzie, who place a live mouse in a beer bottle in an attempt to blackmail the local beer store into giving them free Elsinore beer, but are told to take up the matter with management at the Elsinore brewery. Their plan doesn't quite work out as instead of getting free beer, the brothers are given jobs on the bottling line inspecting bottles for mice which is almost as good, right? Needless to say, hijinks ensue and make this ridiculous movie into the cult classic that it is.

Overman Tire Company began business in the late 1890 manufacturing OEM bicycle tires for bike manufacturers. Overman changed with the times, expanding their line to include the manufacturing of the solid rubber tires used on trucks in their early years, and later heavy duty tubed tires that were extremely popular with fleet owners. Marketed as "the world's best tire," Overman's were known for being tough as nails and were standard equipment on most fire trucks. This is where their devil mascot originated, showing that their tires were tough enough to dance with the devil in the flames of fire fighting.

Scream Bloody Gore is the first studio album by American death metal band Death, released on May 25, 1987. It is considered by many to be the first true death metal record. The album was actually recorded twice as the label wasn't happy with the first recording done in Florida, so a second Los Angeles-based session was held which was ultimately released as the complete album.

Historically, AM radio hasn't typically been associated with anything cool, but in 1982, KJET 1600 AM decided to change that. Well before alternative music and radio stations dedicated to it were a thing, Seattle's KJET was making it happen and doing it on the AM dial. Billing themselves as a 'modern rock' station, KJET played an eclectic mix of new wave and rock music that otherwise didn't fit into the silos of radio in the early '80s. Despite the station's overwhelming popularity, six years after launching, the station was flipped to an oldies format in preparation for a sale. Needless to say, it was a disaster, but there was no going back, so Seattle would have to wait a few more years until a new FM alternative station launched.

If you were a hot rodder or street racer back in the late '60s, you probably remember seeing more than a few of these 'Weirdos, Freaks, Wackos, and Creeps Anti-Social Club' stickers on the back of cars at races and meets. It was kind of like the official unofficial club for those that didn't quite fit into the more organized groups. Our updated version still includes Mr. Cyclops, but fresh typesetting and a nice set of crossbones to add a little attitude. Get your freak on!

Coffee Dan's roots go back to when Daniel Davis, aka Coffee Dan, opened a cabaret in San Francisco in 1879 in the basement below his coffee shop. Eventually, Dan, and later his son, John, focused on the coffee shop and shuttered the cabaret. During WWII, war production saw a demand for 24-hour diners, and Coffee Dan’s began opening several locations in Los Angeles. Open all day, every day, the diners became popular with night shift workers during the war, and continued to be the hang-out spot for late night revelers post-war. Other locations opened around the country, and followed the same formula, but by the end of the '70s, all Coffee Dan’s closed. This design is based on the early '60s rebrand, which saw Coffee Dan as a cartoon mascot.

James Lee Lindsey Jr. (May 1, 1980 – January 13, 2010), known professionally as Jay Reatard, was an American musician from Memphis, Tennessee. Lindsey was a self-taught musician who was writing songs before he even knew how to tune a guitar. As a kid, he'd simply tune the instrument to what sounded right to him and then develop his own chords, later learning and adopting the standard guitar tuning so that he could play with other musicians. Reatard was a prolific songwriter, releasing more than 100 records, 22 of which were full-length albums. In 2009, he relaunched his indie label, Shattered Records, releasing a compilation album titled Greatest Messes, and embarking on an American tour.

Mr. Lady Records (or Mr. Lady Records and Video) was a San Francisco-based lesbian-feminist independent record label and video art distributor. Founded in 1996 in Durham, North Carolina, the label aimed to redress what they saw as a lack of feminist record labels at the time, and was considered queercore's strongest label. When movies get released in different markets, they frequently get regional marketing treatments that differ from the original stateside release. The Halloween 6 launch in Italy is a perfect example of this. The Italian market got a version of the poster art that was reversed left to right, and then a nude blonde was added in, sticking out of the eyeholes of Michael Myers' mask for some inexplicable reason.

Not a lot of info out there on Union Truck Company, but from articles of incorporation, it appears that they were a cartage company formed in the late '30s in Ventura, California. From the few archival photos we've been able to uncover, they apparently specialized in produce transport, which would make sense seeing how Ventura has long been an agricultural area, growing everything from berries and lemons, to peppers and avocados.

First appearing in the debut edition of Valiant on October 6, 1962, The Steel Claw was one of the most popular comic book heroes of British weekly adventure comics of the ’60s and ’70s. The series focused on Louis Crandell, a lab assistant to Dr. Barringer. After an accident took his right hand, Barringer replaced the hand with a sophisticated prosthetic, but another accident unhinged Crandell, giving him the power to turn invisible if he received an electric shock, only his steel hand remaining visible. The deranged Crandell used this not terribly practical power to commit crimes until the balance of his mind was restored, and he became a crime fighter. Crandell went to work for a Government agency called the Shadow Squad.

Not a whole lot is known about the Bremerton Rollerdrome, other than it opened up in 1951, and was apparently pretty popular, as this old school roller skating rink was in business for about twenty years. Why the penguin? Some say the rink was originally built in the '40s as an ice skating rink, and as roller skating gained in popularity, the facility dumped the ice in favor of hard wood skating surfaces.

Based in the town of Norphlet in Union County, Arkansas, Macmillan Oil Company began producing their Ring Free line of motor oils in 1923. The company was highly successful in promoting their products through sponsorships of motorsports ranging from flat track motorcycle racing and powerboats, to air racing and grand prix events, leveraging them to make their 'race proven' claims. Ring Free products continued to be popular throughout the '60s and '70s, but in as more high-tech formulas from new companies arrived in the '80s, Macmillan Oil Company's fortunes began to wane, and by the end of the decade, they had ceased operations.
