Canada’s rich indigenous history has shaped our national identity today; cultural ties to our First Nations, Métis, and Inuit ancestors have created a country where multiculturalism and diversity are celebrated and welcomed. Today, Canada is home to people of many different cultural backgrounds, who live and coexist together. The nation is also celebrated for its vast lands and rich wildlife. Inspired by a number of Inuit, Woodland, and West Coast visual artists (e.g. Kenojuak Ashevak, Norval Morrisseau, Eddie Cobiness, Goyce Kakegamic, Benjamin Chee Chee, and Kananginak Pootoogook), this illustration honours different culture identities alongside some of our most recognizable animal counterparts.
