After a few weeks away from the studio, I'm back with an experimental painting to get me back on track with my work.
I wanted to paint something bright and bold and I visualized something similar to this whilst on holiday.
This piece is a re-tread of a project I did many years ago now where I produced a self portrait in this style using an a1 board and oil pastels. Needless to say this one is much better and was far easier to work with using acrylic paints at a smaller scale.
I might return to this style at some point in the future, but for now I am currently working on a new series of work compiling of 8 interlocking canvases. It's still in the development stage for now, but painting will commence shortly

Following my recent Tiger watercolour painting, I wanted to try the same composition with another recent piece I enjoyed, being my wolf painting.
Unlike my others recent work, this piece is mixed media focusing mainly on acrylics to create a good wirey fur texture.
My first painting inspired by a supernatural detective from a popular graphic novel series.
It is acrylic paint on A2 Canvas depicting the character lighting a cigarette in a signature fashion, reminiscent of the lighting styles of classic film noir, or more appropriately neo-noir.
My favourite thing about this painting is the colour and how the light created by the flame creates such a vibrant glow.
The influences behind this piece are punk and post-punk and an inspiration of film noir.
