These 700 gram heavy animals (also known as elephant shrews) are related to the trunk jumpers. They live in the eastern Tanzania and Kenya. Red-sholuder-trunk-dogs (Rhynchocyon petersi) can reach a head-torso-lenght of up to 31 centimeters, in addition to an up to 25 centimeters long ,hairless tail, a trunk-like extended nose. This artwork is inspired by the popular children's poem about a clumsy little bear who was walking in the forest: he was gathering pine cones and singing songs. A pine cone fell directly onto his forehead. The little bear got angry and stamped his foot. Soft pastel, handpainted.

In the Slavic tradition during the time of solstice people weared different costumes (especially loved the costumes of animals). It is also known as mumming or janneying tradition. It typically involves a group of friends or family who dress in disguise and visit homes within their community or neighbouring communities. They dance, sing songs, and the hosts must offer them food or drink. Fire protects from the evil forces and there a good tradition to make gingerbread. Later this tradtion became popular during Christmas Holidays.
