They were both rescued and were last seen disembarking from the rescue helicopter after Iceman and Maverick's F-14s had returned to the USS Enterprise.

Sundown - Marcus Williams (callsign: Sundown) is a Naval Flight Officer and graduate of TOPGUN. In Top Gun, Sundown is Chipper's radar intercept officer (RIO). He is first seen at the bar when Maverick & Goose sing to Charlie. He briefly sang solo to Charlie, with adequate talent. He was later temporarily assigned as Maverick's RIO shortly after Goose's death. Sundown and Maverick had a fallout, because of Maverick still being upset over Goose's death. Sundown is last seen at the TOPGUN graduation ceremony speaking to Chipper regarding Maverick's whereabouts and state of mind.

The MiG-28 (МиГ-28 in Cyrillic script) is a twin-engine, single or two-seat fighter jet operated by Soviet bloc air forces. As seen in TG, it uses wingtip-mounted Vympel K-13 (NATO reporting name "AA-2 Atoll") missiles as its primary air to air weapon (the Atoll is a reverse-engineered version of the AIM-9 Sidewinder). MiG is highly maneuverable, but somewhat slower than the F-14 Tomcat.
