From the carpark at the end of Ridgewell Rd, Blackheath, this view is accessible after a one hour walk along the Baltzer Lookout track. This photo was featured in the UK Sun newspaper on October 24, 2011. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3889314/Panic-at-hanging-rock.html This is in the Blue Mountains National Park in New South Wales, Australia. It was an adventure for me just getting to the point where I took this photo .. slid part of the way down a gravelly slope on my butt to avoid falling. It would have been much easier without all the camera gear. I got a stress headache watching them stroll to the edge & casually look down. It is such an incredible piece of nature though & was well worth the effort to capture...

My favourite section of the Grand Canyon walk near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains National Park in NSW, Australia. This has been a favourite walk for decades. On my last walk here I saw that the tree on the right had been damaged by storms so that only half of it remains. Photographed with a Canon 400D, RAW Mode, ISO 400, F10 & 0.4 seconds in February 2012.

Sylvia Falls near the Valley of the Waters at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains National Park in Australia. This is on one of my favourite walks & the track goes around the cliff to Wentworth Falls before you climb a steep cliff to the top of the falls. My other good shots of Sylvia are portrait format. I thought I'd try landscape format to show off the greenery surrounding the falls. Photographed with a Canon 400D, ISO 200, 2.5 seconds, F18.

I love this view of our amazing Sydney Harbour Bridge with the the Holy Trinity Garrison Church in the foreground. According to my research this church was the colony's first military church & is located on Lower Fort Street at The Rocks. Camera: Canon 400D. Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Notre Dame in Paris with Charlemagne & his noble servants. Paris, France. Canon 5D MkIII Notre-Dame de Paris; French for “Our Lady of Paris”, also known as Notre-Dame Cathedral or simply Notre-Dame, is a historic Catholic cathedral on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France. The cathedral is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture and among the largest and most well-known church buildings in the world. The naturalism of its sculptures and stained glass are in contrast with earlier Romanesque ...

My first day exploring Paris & having seen Notre Dame on the way from the airport to the apartment, it was my first choice to explore & admire. It was also pretty close to where I was staying. I checked it out from many angles & particularly liked this one with the boat restaurant in the foreground. This couple slid down a large to reach a platform that had a better view of the valley. I didn't follow them because of a large backpack & tripod. Going down would have been easy but coming up would have required some help. I'm not sure how precarious the platform was but it looked a bit dangerous from where I was. There is a misty flow of water coming down from the cliff on the right hand side of this photo. I left a large chunk of cliff in the photo to give a sense of scale with the people on the platform. The trail is half way down into the valley. I also like how the relatively spindly tree growing out of the rocks makes the people look small & takes centre stage in the scene. My first decent photo of my favourite Sylvia Falls with the new camera. The last time I was here was just after a mini cyclone & there was so much water coming over the falls you couldn't stand in front here without getting drenched from the water spray. Not a lot of water coming over the falls after a bit of a dry spell but still beautiful. Sylvia Falls in the Blue Mountains National Park, Wentworth Falls, NSW, Australia. Canon 5 MkIII

Located near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains National Park, New South Wales, Australia. The rock hangs into the Grose Valley. This spot is 2 hours drive west of Sydney & then an hours walk to this site (quicker if you have a mountain bike). The area is not fenced or well signposted. You need good hiking boots because of the steep surfaces & loose gravel. I wouldn't recommend taking children there. At the end of Ridgewell Rd there is a car park & the walk takes you to Baltzer Lookout. The Rock is visible from the lookout but you need to climb down the cliff to get a good view. The rock is much bigger than it appears here, but I wasn't game to get too close to the edge of the cliff. In spring the walk becomes an avenue of wi...

Le Moulin at Marie Antoinette's farm near the Palace of Versailles, France dating back to 1783. Canon 5D MkIII The Mill, built and fitted from 1783 to 1788, was never used for grinding grain. The wheel is driven by a stream derived from the Grand Lake and is only a decorative element. To escape the "stresses" and responsibilities of her real life, Antoinette enjoyed running off to her elaborate playground, where she would dress like a young peasant, don a straw hat and milk cows. Most of these buildings fell into ruin & were restored in 1990.

The jacarandas do a good job of supporting the beautiful old architecture of the Town Hall in spring. Sydney, NSW, Australia. Canon 5D MkIII The construction of Sydney Town Hall commenced in 1869, and it was designed to be a symbol of the wealth and status of the city. The building was constructed in two stages, Stage I: 1868 - 1878 and Stage II: the Main Hall, 1885 - 1890. The Town Hall design was the result of a competition, won by J. H. Willson. The Second Empire style design (including four eastern pavilions, clock tower, vestibule, reception room and Council Chamber) was modified by the City Engineer to reduce the cost. Following Willson's death Stage I was completed by successive City Architects. The design and construction ...
