Have you ever wondered why history is so important? Think of History as a bad ex. You can't ignore or deny them, because they shaped a part of you. You can't erase or change them, because the truth is the events happened whether you want to remember or not. Why do we have to learn about the past, when we live in the present? Well, the answer is simple. George Santaya said, “those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” And trust me, you don't want to repeat some of the mistakes that people have made in the past. History can teach us valuable lessons, and ignoring history can lead to world altering disastrous consequences. So, the next time you think that history is boring, remember history is also essential.

Renowned philosopher, Plato, once said: “Say what you meme and meme what you say.” By this, he meant that one should express one’s thoughts and feelings in the form of images and words that capture the essence of one’s message, and that one should also act in accordance with one’s memes, not contradicting them or being hypocritical. Plato believed that memes were the highest form of communication, as they revealed the true nature of things, beyond the appearances and opinions of the senses. He also thought that memes were the best way to educate and persuade people, as they appealed to both reason and emotion, and could convey complex and abstract ideas in a simple and memorable way. According to O’odham oral history, the labyrinth design depicts experiences and choices individuals make in the journey through life. In the middle of the “maze” a person finds their dreams and goals. An individual has a final opportunity when they reach the center, a last turn in the grand design, to look back upon their choices made and paths taken. Hopefully they have lived in harmony with nature and their fellow people. Finding balance, wisdom, and home along their journey of life with its twists and turns, joys and sorrows, choices and consequences. After this reflection the Sun God greets us, blesses us and passes us into the next world.

The Enneagram symbol is a nine-pointed diagram that represents nine personality types and how they relate to each other. The word Enneagram comes from the Greek words for nine (ennea) and something written or drawn (gramma). The symbol consists of three parts: a circle, a triangle, and an irregular hexagon. Combined they represent interconnectedness, unity, movement, potential for growth and transformation, and the triadic nature of reality.

The triple goddess symbol is a triunity representation of the three aspects celebrating the feminine cycle of life and divine feminine energy: the maiden, the mother, and the crone. The moon in three harmonic phases: waxing, full, and waning. The waxing moon symbolizes the maiden, who is young, innocent, and adventurous. The full moon symbolizes the mother, who is nurturing, creative, and compassionate. The waning moon symbolizes the crone, who is wise, experienced, and powerful.

The SATOR square, sometimes called the Templar Magic Square, contains an acrostic five-word Latin palindrome. It is thought to be a word puzzle of Roman origin (in ROTAS form) adopted by the early Christians, though some believe it has Jewish origins. Believed by some to hold mystical powers, it remains one of the worlds oldest unsolved puzzles, as scholars are yet to form a consensus on its true meaning.

It may be a little Retro, but when I was in school, our Active Shooter drills were only with a round ball on the basketball court. You know the type of player. One minute they’re there, next they’re dropping a fade away jumper under pressure. How did they move like that? Swish!

“Mono no aware” is a Japanese idiom from the Heian period. It is an awareness of the impermanence of things, a reality of all things in this world. My inspiration for this work is from a story I read about the Samurai Minamoto Yoshitsune. The Koi in this design were from a long stalled work in progress, so now the impermanence of one design is born into another.

We’re all on this big blue marble together, for better or worse. Round and round we go. Get over yourself, and embrace your brothers and sisters. Have fun! Live life! If we work together, maybe we’ll enjoy peace long enough to break free from the bonds holding us down on this ball of rock and water.

The early Progressive Party had their Bull Moose, Republicans have their Elephant, Democrats have their Donkey, Bernie had his Sparrow. I‘d rather find the Bluebird of Happiness some were in the middle. The Bluebird is known as a symbol of happiness in quite a few cultures. The color Blue represents contentment, peace, purity, innocence, and honesty. The Bluebird is also linked to many fortuitous omens, and this Bluebird wants some forward progress to make the world a better (happier) place. Some people think Progressive is a dirty word, but why would anyone not want to progress and move forward. Semper Deinceps – Numquam Retrorsum (Ever Forward – Never Backwards).

Unicorns transcend boundaries and cultures from around the world. They represent a wide range of ideas, even sometimes having deadly power in mythology. Purity, power, masculinity, femininity, freedom, positivity, hope, and healing seem to be the strongest associations. If there can be one all encompassing mantra, it has to be “Believe in Yourself!” Believe in your mystical uniqueness!
