Greek Classics Baseball T-Shirts

This beautiful Roman mosaic demonstrates three Roman ideas 1) momento mori (remember death (reminding one to live life to the fullest) 2) tempus fugit (time flies represented by the butterfly) 3) rota fortunae (wheel of fortune representing life being controlled by fate, the wheel supporting the skull and the clothes of a rich woman on left and a peasant woman on left.

This design is based on a late archaic amphora in the Metropolitan Museum of Art attributed to the Berlin Painter

Arsinoe II was one the most powerful queens to ever rule in the ancient world, and the first woman to have her own portrait on a coin. After the death of her children, she was deified in her lifetime and co-reigned as pharaoh of Egypt along side her brother Ptolemy Philadelphus. It's also said that she personally won three yes THREE Olympic chariot races :o Yeah, we've got ancient queen envy too.

This is a woodcut of an ancient Roman relief of a man reading a scroll. The woodcut design was derived from an antique book plate in "The dawn of American history in Europe" (1912) The original Sarcophagus with a Greek Physician this woodcut is of was found at Ostia and dates to the 4th c CE. This is a 6th c. BCE Attic kylix by the Pistoxenos Painter. You can find it in the Carlotta Museum in Stockholm. It's also been made into a popular meme!

This artistic interpretation is based on the reconstruction made by Emile Gilliéron. This fresco was excavated in fragments from the Minoan powerhouse of Knossos in 1914, dating to the Late Minoan IB period. Today, it can be viewed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art
