This beautiful Roman mosaic demonstrates three Roman ideas 1) momento mori (remember death (reminding one to live life to the fullest) 2) tempus fugit (time flies represented by the butterfly) 3) rota fortunae (wheel of fortune representing life being controlled by fate, the wheel supporting the skull and the clothes of a rich woman on left and a peasant woman on left.
