This photo was taken looking to Langland Bay, Gower in Wales. The sea was crashing on the rocks and my camera got covered in spray. I had thought I wouldn't see the sun set because of the cloud but at the last moment it broke through and produced the scene here.

The building was designed and erected in 1930 as the Garden Restaurant and re-named The Rendezvous Cafe in 1957. It has been featured in a prime time advert for BP and more recently has been used in the filming of the TV crime drama 'Vera'.

The bay is overlooked by Tynemouth Priory and Castle and is pictured here on a very calm, sunny November morning with the blue sky reflecting on the waters of the North Sea giving it an almost Mediterranean colour - if a little cooler!

Casco Bay Portland Harbor Maine by Debra Martz Storm clouds were building on this October day but light was finding its way through, highlighting the historic fort and moored boats. One of Maine's most iconic coastal structures, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, Fort Gorges is a former United States military fort built on Hog Island Ledge in Casco Bay, Maine. Built from 1858 to 1864, no battles were fought there and no troops were stationed there. Advancing military technology, including ironclad ships and long-range guns, made the fort obsolete before it could be used. St Mary's Island and lighthouse are situated on the North East coast of England just north of the town of Whitley Bay. This image was captured on a cloudy, calm July morning at low tide and under a cloudy sky just after a flock of seagulls appeared from behind the lighthouse, some of which can still be seen in the sky. The image has been converted to monochrome to emphasise the drama in the sky.
