The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) in the middle is a dark nebula in the constellation Orion. Behind dark cloud of dust glows hydrogen gas, ionized by the nearby star Sigma Orionis. The Flame Nebula (NGC 2024, Sh2-277) (in the left part of image) is an emission nebula, shines thanks to ultraviolet light from star Alnitak. Both objects are approximately 1350-1500 light years away from Earth. The North America Nebula (NGC 7000 or Caldwell 20) is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. Shape of nebula resembles continent of North America. It consists mostly of hydrogen gas, glowing red. This deep sky object is located approx 2400 light years away from Earth. Picture taken with newtonian telescope (750mm focal length), astronomy monochrome camera, RGB and H-alpha narrowband filters. Total exposure time: 4 hours.

Flaming star nebula (also known as IC 405, Sh2-229) in the constellation Auriga is both emission and reflection nebula, surrounding the bluish star AE Aurigae, which is travelling through gas clouds with a speed of 200 km/s. Another picture especially (but not only) for connoisseurs: reflection nebula NGC 1333 in the constellation Perseus, surrounded by dark dust. It is approximately 750-1000 (depends on source) light years away from Earth. This nebula is one of the closest to Earth areas of the formation of new stars, rich in young stars. In the initial stage of life young stars are not visible because they are obscured by dust. Picture taken with newton telescope (750mm focal length) & astronomy monochrome camera.
