The scenic town of Tobermory, complete with the iconic coloured houses, on the Isle of Mull on a clear sunny spring day, with the snow capped peaks of Ardnamurchan in the distance.

Seen here as a digital coloured pencil drawing is Tobermory, capital of the Isle of Mull in Scotland's Inner Hebrides, This colourful and picturesque town is on the east coast of Mishnish, the most northerly part of the island close to the entrance to the Sound of Mull. It began life as a fishing port in 1788 and was apparently based on designs by the noted engineer Thomas Telford. The quayside is busy with fishing and leisure boats and is also home to the Tobermory Distillery.

Rubha Nan Gall Lighthouse is situated just north of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull and was constructed in 1857 by David & Thomas Stevenson. First lit on the 10th November 1857, the lighthouse was tended by lighthouse keepers for over a century until it was automated in 1960; it continues to guide mariners to this day.

Rubha Nan Gall Lighthouse is situated just north of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull and was constructed in 1857 by David & Thomas Stevenson. First lit on the 10th November 1857, the lighthouse was tended by lighthouse keepers for over a century until it was automated in 1960; it continues to guide mariners to this day.

Nearby sits a memorial (plaque), indicating the points of view across the sea, where these poppies had been placed: "On this spot, much loved and frequented by him, this memorial is erected by his many friends in memory of Robert brown of Stronsaule who died on 18th January 1936"

Who cannot fall in love with Tobermory? The cheer of painted houses set the tone. The romance of the islands beckons, scented with pine, moss, and heather. The promise of pots of strong tea and buttery scones, of sweaty walks in the rain, of dark mountains and romantic waterfalls. The small town feels like a gateway, a Scottish icon too. The work is full of colour and makes a lovely souvenir of Scotland, a great gift, a great addition to any collection.

To the north of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, sits the Rubha Nan Gall Lighthouse which is reached by a scenic 2km path that has wonderful views towards Ardnamurchan on the other side of the bay; definitely "The Road Less Travelled"

Close to the road from Salen to Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull, sit three old fishing boats (hulks) that are slowly being taken, albeit reluctantly, by the elements. With a backdrop of the Ardnamurchan landscape they offer a wonderful vista even in monochrome!
