How "Sherlock Holmes" came to be written for the stagetheatre is an interesting story. Curiously enough, it was not at the suggestion of Dr. Conan Doyle, Mr. William Gillette, or Mr. Charles Frohman, who is Mr. Gillette's manager, but through the inventive genius of an American reporter. This enterprising individual wrote a paragraph to the effect that Conan Doyle had stated that should anyone ever dramatize Sherlock Holmes it would be William Gillette.

The name "Robin the Boy Wonder" and the medieval look of the original costume were inspired by the Errol Flynn movie The Adventures of Robin Hood. While Batman is teaching Robin how to be a hero in all situations. the Dark Knight views things much differently, he's willing to sidestep making childhood memories to focus on the tasks at hand - even if that means Robins have to grow up quickly.

The Emerald Archer enjoyed moderate success in his early years, becoming the cover feature of More Fun, as well as having occasional appearances in other comics. Throughout his first twenty-five years, however, the character never enjoyed greater popularity. In the late 1960s, writer Denny O'Neil, inspired by the character's dramatic visual redesign by Neal Adams, chose to have him lose his fortune, giving him the then-unique role of a streetwise crusader for the working class and the disadvantaged. In 1970, he was paired with a more law and order-oriented hero, Since then, he has been popular among comic book fans and most writers have taken an urban, gritty approach to the character.

Picture a Sleuth— a regal, brilliant obsessive-compulsive high on the drug of puzzles and snooping around a crime-scene, collecting his information. He observes countless details about the scene and the victim. Many of which the police seem to have overlooked and then from that information arrives at a conclusion that is not necessarily true, but is probable based on the information available. So why is he known as a master of deduction? Deductive reasoning is also known as ‘top-down’ logic, where the reasoner begins with an accepted premise and seeks to prove another statement based on previously “known” information.

The sleuth of Baker Street is timeless. It has been over 100 years since the first story featuring Holmes was published in 1887's A Study in Scarlet. The character and stories have had a profound and lasting effect on mystery writing and popular culture as a whole. We love to revisit the old stories just as much (if not more) than we like coming up with new stories. We love translating Sherlock Holmes into every medium we’ve had in that span theater, radio, movies, TV, comics, everything. Holmes has been at home on television since 1950. As television has changed, we have come up with a Holmes for that era. It’s hard to count just how many adaptations of Sherlock Holmes there have been because of so many have used elements of the detective.
