The 15th Signal Brigade (TEAM 15) is an active duty unit of the United States Army, based at Fort Gordon. The 15th Signal Brigade trains and develops professional Signal and Cyber Soldiers and Leaders and supports the execution of academic Professional Military Education, Initial Entry Training, and Functional Training in order to develop adaptive Cyberspace operators committed to the Profession of Arms, who embrace the Warrior Ethos, and live the Army values; capable of effectively supporting and defending the cyber domain.

The 149th Armor Brigade is an armor heavy national guard brigade in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The brigade contains three combat battalions (two armor, one mechanized infantry), one support battalion and the headquarters is in Louisville, Ky. The brigade's mission in time of war is to either fight as a combined arms team with the parent unit, the 35th Infantry Division (Mechanized), or as an independent brigade.

The unit was redesignated on 1 August 1966 as the 44th Signal Battalion, allotted to the Regular Army, and activated in Vietnam. It was inactivated on 1 March 1970 in Vietnam. It was reactivated on 17 March 1972 in Vietnam, and then inactivated on 3 June 1972 at Oakland, in Vietnam, the unit participated in the following campaigns: Counteroffensive Phase II, Counteroffensive Phase III, Tet Counteroffensive, Counteroffensive Phase IV, and many more.

The history of Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP—pronounced "Lurp"), LRP, and Ranger units deployed during the Cold War in Europe and Vietnam is based on three time periods: 1) LRRP from late 1965 to 20 December 1967; 2) LRP from late December 1967 through January 1969; and 3) Ranger from 1 February 1969, to 1972 when the Vietnam War drew down and the U.S. Vietnam Ranger units were deactivated. However, in 1974 their colors and lineage were passed to newly formed Ranger Battalions based in the United States

The 1st Battalion, 60 Infantry was assigned to the 172 Infantry Brigade at Fort Richardson, Alaska. The 2d Battalion, 60th Infantry was reactivated on 21 October 1972 at Fort Lewis where it became the first motorized unit in the Army. It was used as an advanced training unit in highly maneuverable tactics using newly outfitted Humvees with TOW missile systems, Mk-19s and M2s. It was the precursor to today's Strykers.

The 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry, was originally constituted on 15 May 1917 in the Regular Army as Company E, 46th Infantry. October 1967 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Battalion, 46th Infantry, and activated at Fort Hood, TX (its organic elements were concurrently constituted and activated). The battalion was assigned on 31 March 1968 to the 198th Infantry Brigade. It was relieved on 15 February 1969 from assignment to the 198th Infantry Brigade and assigned to the 23d Infantry Division.

In August 2006, the brigade deployed for 15 months to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where they were responsible for detainee operations and convoy security at Camp Bucca, along with detainee operations at The Baghdad Correctional Facility (Abu Ghraib). The Unit also worked with Task Force 131 at Camp Victory in Baghdad, Iraq. The brigade was awarded its fourth Meritorious Unit Commendation for the outstanding mission accomplishments in Iraq.

In 1990, 1st Brigade again deployed with the Big Red One to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Leading the breach of the Iraqi defenses on February 24, 1991, the Brigade actively fought and destroyed the enemy in the three campaigns involving the defense of Saudi Arabia and the Liberation of Kuwait. On 23 July 2003, 1st Brigade was notified of their deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The brigade was initially attached to the 82nd Airborne Division, and occupied Area of Operations (AO) Topeka. On 20 March 2004, 1st Brigade was attached to the 1st Marine Division to continue its offensive operations in AO Topeka.

Troop D, 17th Cavalry was initially in Vietnam as the ground reconnaissance element of the 199th Infantry Brigade (Light), arriving on 13 December 1966 and departing on 12 October 1970. The unit was raised as an air cavalry troop from the assets of Troop D, 3d Squadron, 5th Cavalry to support the 101st Airborne Division. This second tour lasted from 15 December 1971 to 20 March 1972. Finally, the unit was activated again on 30 April 1972 using the assets of Troop D, 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry to serve the 11th Aviation Group at Da Nang. It departed Vietnam on 26 February 1973.

Since the establishment of the United States Army in 1775, three regiments have held the designation 28th Infantry Regiment.

The 4th Cavalry Regiment is a United States Army cavalry regiment, whose lineage is traced back to the mid-19th century. It was one of the most effective units of the Army against American Indians on the Texas frontier. Today, the regiment exists as separate squadrons within the U.S. Army. The 1st Squadron of the 4th Cavalry's official nickname is "Quarterhorse", which alludes to its 1/4 Cav designation.

The 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division (25th ID) is an airborne infantry brigade combat team (IBCT) of the United States Army. The unit is stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska and is the only airborne brigade combat team in the Pacific Theater. It is also the newest airborne IBCT and one of only five in the United States Army; the others are the three IBCT of the 82nd Airborne Division and the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team.

The 287th MP Co. is reconstituted for active army service in Oct. 1953, as the 759th MP Bn. is deactivated. Together with the 272nd MP Company, the 287th assumes the law enforcement mission in occupied Berlin. On Mar. 31, 1958, the Horse Platoon, previously assigned to the 287th MP Co., is deactivated in Berlin. On Jun. 1, 1958, the 272nd MP Co. is deactivated leaving the 287th as the sole American Military Police unit in Berlin. Concurrently, the 287th MP Co is designated a "separate unit." In Aug/Sept 1961, a small detachment of the 287th MP Co. is set up in Steinstuecken, a political enclave associated with West Berlin In Oct. 1961, is attached to the 287th for duty at Checkpoint Charlie.

On 16 July 1981 the group was reorganized and redesignated as the 16th Military Police Brigade (Airborne). Since Vietnam, the brigade headquarters has deployed around the world in support of XVIII Airborne Corps and on-going Army operations. In October 1983, the headquarters was sent to Grenada in support of Operation Urgent Fury. In February 2009, the 4th Brigade Combat Team deployed to eastern Afghanistan as a part of Regional Command East, International Security Assistance Force. The brigade's area of combat operations included Khost, Paktia, and Paktika provinces, all on the border with Pakistan; brigade headquarters was at Forward Operating Base Salerno in Khost. Known as Task Force Yukon, the brigade was augmented with eight battalion-sized units.

7th Engineer Brigade was formed in June 1969 through the consolidation of two former engineer groups: the 540th Engr Gp and the 555th Egr Gp. The Brigade had the motto of "Engineers - Lead the Way" and had a very high morale. The Brigade deployed with VII Corps for the Gulf War. We grew to over 8,500 soldiers, three Groups, 10 Battalions, and assorted companies. The 48th IPSD was activated at Fort Benning, Georgia, on 2 September 1966, with Lt. Ian L. Jones in command. After training at Fort Benning the unit deployed to Vietnam on 11 January 1967, with a strength of 1 Officer and 14 Enlisted men and 26 dogs. After arriving in Vietnam on 15 January 1967, the Platoon moved to Tay Ninh on 23 January 1967, to join the 196th Light Infantry Brigade (LIB) .
