Goodall Magnets

These migrating seabirds nest on Norfolk Island and it is always a joy to find a colony of adults and chicks on the sea cliffs. This cute chick is getting bigger but still has its 'baby fluff,' yet to get it's adult feathers.

I have hosted numerous tours on Norfolk Island but I have never before had an opportunity to photograph the Red Tailed Tropic Bird in flight from such close quarters. A truly beautiful bird and poetry in motion.

Baby animals are cute and they don't come much cuter than a baby koala

On my recent photography tour in Tanzania, our guides knew about a female leopard with a cub living in a particular kopje. We visited several times and were finally rewarded with a face-to-face look at the playful cub.

One of many butterflies I have photographed at Bribie Island. I teach an occasional butterfly workshop so I get to spend an afternoon with my students and some of the most colourful subjects nature has to offer.

Taken at Chambers Island near Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, this is my favourite sunset of 2018. The sky alone painted a wonderful picture and when the two paddle-boarders appeared it was the perfect finishing touch.

Situated in Queensland's Sunshine Coast Hinterland, only 15 minutes from my home.

We saw many of these African Fish Eagles on our tour but rarely could we get close enough for a decent photo, so this sighting on the Chobe river cruise was a great opportunity.

It's hard to believe a family of Rainbow Lorikeets live inside that knot in the gum tree but they do. I caught this moment of one of the adults arrived home.

The first time I ever saw a Mallee Ringnecked Parrot, at Arkaroola in outback South Australia on a recent photography tour.

I was host to the Norfolk Island Photography Festival in November 2019. Before the other photographers arrived I had time to explore the island alone, seeking out great spots to recommend as photo opportunities. This shot from the Queen Elizabeth Lookout was one of the prime spots for a sunset.

My first chance to photograph a cygnet and now I see what all the fuss is about! Very cute and even better in late afternoon light. Taken at a pond at Alexandra Headland, Sunshine Coast.

Highlighted in the sun against a shady background, you could be mistaken for thinking this was a professional model in a studio!

Ospreys are one of the best birds of prey to photograph ,those talons and that intense glare in the eyes makes you happy that you are not their prey. This osprey headed took after after finishing a meal and flew straight in my direction creating on opportunity of a lifetime. Taken at Kings Beach, Caloundra in Queensland.

He may have been hoping to steal a sausage but I stole a photo instead!

It's lucky our African drivers were such amazing wildlife spotters. I would never have seen this on my own...one of the great memories of my African photography tours.

If you know how small an Agapanthus flower is, then you can imagine how tiny this little jumping spider was! One of the cutest macro shots in my collection.

We all love baby animals, and if there is anything cuter than a baby elephant...it's two baby elephants. These were part of a large herd that crossed our path as we explored the Ngorongoro Concession in Tanzania on my 2019 photography tour.

To see one of the world's most endangered species just quietly drinking at this waterhole in Etosha National Park was a rare privilege and a career highlight.

Taken at one of my bird photography workshops at Golden Beach on the Sunshine Coast. Nothing looks more comical than a pelican about to land. A friend once said to me "when they are flying they look like experts, when they are landing they look like they are still on their first lesson."

Dwarf Tree Frog taken in Montville, Queensland. When I owned my gallery in Montville, I used to go out every day in Spring and Summer to see what the frogs were up to, as they always found interesting places to hide.. I called this shot 'The Frog King' and for about ten years it was the best selling photo in the gallery.

A curious cow peeked over the horizon just as the colours of this sunset were at their best, providing the perfect finishing touch.

This shot was taken nowhere in particular, just by a large pond on the road from Christuchurch to Lake Tekapo. I wish I had more information, but the driver just said 'does anyone want to stop and take a photo?' Of course we said yes...it was an unscheduled stop, we were there just a few minutes, and it ended up one of my favourite photos of the tour.

Beautiful colours, beautiful bird. This blue and gold Macaw would put a smile on any face, making it the perfect greeting card for all occasions.

I often take my students to Golden Beach at Caloundra to photograph pelicans and other birds in flight. This shot was late in the afternoon with a very relaxed pelican enjoying the last ray of sun.

Every Summer bring some amazing storm activity to the Sunshine Coast but it's all about picking just the right spot...which I did on this occasion. One of my favourite lightning photos of all time.

Sighting of a rare Black and White Colobus Monkey was a highlight encounter on our visit to Arusha National Park.

The waterhole brings the wildlife, late afternoon creates a great photo opportunity. We saw so many zebras on our African tours but could never get tired of photographing them.

On my 2018 Top End Photography Tour I had the rare privilege to photograph the threatened Hooded Parrot at Pine Creek. Great to see this beautiful bird alive and well in this tiny corner of the Northern Territory.

Taken on a steamy sunrise not far from the border of Kakadu National Park, this is one of my favourite photos out of all my Top End Photography Tours. You have to be quiet and very patient, as the wallabies see you coming a mile away and will take off at the first sudden movement.

A rare sighting indeed and we were so fortunate to find a family of African Wild Dogs in perfect early morning light.

Taken from a roadside near Maleny, this late afternoon shot captures a lot of what makes the Sunshine Coast Hinterland so special. Greenery, a genuine rural feeling and of course the wonderful Glasshouse Mountains in the distance.
