A Humpback Whale in full breach is an awesome sight and seeing it so close to our boat was incredible. Taken at Hervey Bay on a cruise specially organised with some of my past photography students.

This well-fed wombat kept his head down for a long time while my travelling companions tried to take their photos. Then when they gave up and went to dinner, he looked up at me and gave me a smile!

This beautiful bird was taken in one of my favourite bird-spotting locations, Lake Baroon near Maleny. As with many wrens, the male is brilliantly coloured while the female is a soft brown. Very active in our area in the springtime.

By linking necks, the zebras are able to keep an eye out for predators in all directions, also strengthening the social bonds of the herd.

The Lilac Breasted Roller is such a beautiful bird, but as common in Africa as our Kookaburra at home. Our guides had to be reminded to stop so we could take photos...they are so common they thought they were not worth stopping for!

Seeing these amazing animals in the wild was a joy. Taking the time to watch this herd move across the plain in front of the vehicles and engage in such natural and entertaining activities was a privilege.
