Stormy November weather at the mouth of the River Blyth in Northumberland on the North East coast of England. This image was taken from the old Wooden Pier looking across the river, past the fog horn towards the lighthouse on the end of Cambois Pier. The image has been converted to Monochrome to emphasise the drama.

The Carboniferous sea stack in Collywell Bay, Seaton Sluice, Northumberland is known locally as Charlie's Garden from the time when it was much bigger and the top was alive with vegetation. This image was taken on a cold, wet and stormy November morning as the rough seas were splashing around the stack giving a good example of why it is constantly eroding. There is also a cormorant on the top of the stack drying its wings after a morning's fishing.

Blue Rough Sea

Just what I needed, to be off on another rescue mission. This one does not look good to me.

King Edwards Bay, Tynemouth is a Blue Flag beach in a small sandy bay sheltered by cliffs and grassy banks which makes it excellent for family outings as well as fishing and water sport. The bay is overlooked by Tynemouth Priory and Castle and is pictured here on a very cold, sunny April morning with the blue sky, sunshine and a rough sea adding to the drama.

Rockcliffe is one of a number of small seaside villages along the stretch of the north shore of the Solway Firth known as the Colvend Coast. From the bay, two islands are visible offshore. The more distant is Hestan Island, complete with its lighthouse and cottages. Closer in, a third of a mile from Rockcliffe, is Rough Island. This is accessible on foot at low tide, either via a causeway of sorts from the north, or directly across the sand from Rockcliffe. Canon 5D MKiii 24-105 L-series lens
