Biblical scene, Wieliczka Salt Mine. Bas-relief carving in salt depicting the Wedding at Cana story from the Christian bible, where Jesus (left) turned water into wine. This carving, in the chapel of Saint Kinga, in the Wieliczka Salt Mine, was done in the period 1927-1963 by the miner and sculptor Antoni Wyrodek. The salt mine at Wieliczka, Poland, is one of the oldest in the world. It was started in the 13th century and is still in use in the 21st century. By the 19th century, vast underground caverns had been excavated to depths of several hundred metres, including statues sculpted out of the salt deposits. In 1978, the mine became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The "White" saltworks around sunset, lagoon of Messolonghi - Aitoliko, Aitoloakarnania, Greece. The sign says "It's prohibited to take salt"! The saltworks around Messolonghi are the largest in Greece and produce around 60-70% of the Greek salt. Apart from that, The Lagoon of Messolonghi-Aitoliko is an important wetland protected by the Ramsar convention and Natura 2000. It is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have seen in my country. Lots of fish there, but also some fine fisherman's stilt huts, called "Peladas". You can also see some typical traditional flat bottomed boats (with no carina) of the lakes and lagoons (shallow waters, in general) called "gaitas" by the locals.
