Blakeney Tapestries

Boats at rest, moored for the evening at the quayside at Blakeney, North Norfolk. Such a peaceful scene but until the early 1900s when the harbour silted up,this was a busy port. In medival times it was noted for spices and oriental cloth and, apparently, acts of piracy! Now it is a peaceful harbour for small boats.The marshes round about are a haven for wildlife. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the North Norfolk Heritage Coast.

A sailing barge heading back to harbour under power after a day's work. Sailing barges or Thames barges were once the 'workhorses' around the coast of East Anglia and into the Thames estuary as far as London transporting a wide variety of goods.

The last rays of the late afternoon sun light a small sailing boat moored in Morston Creek on the north Norfolk Coast. The dramatic dark sky precedes a heavy rainstorm which started a few moments later and resulted in over a months' rain in the next 24 hours.
