The sandy bay at Cullercoats in the North East of England is enclosed by two small piers and was once a thriving fishing village in the early 1800s and is now home to the Dove Marine Laboratory (Newcastle University) and an RNLI Lifeboat station. This image was taken from the North end of the bay just as the sun was rising above the horizon on a calm spring morning.

This image was taken from the North end of the bay just as the sun was rising above the horizon on a cold January morning with frost still showing on the roof tops of the lifeboat station.

No longer used but an historical lifeboat station with many lives saved over the many years it was active.

Established in 1882 and replacing an older building at Sandbanks, Poole's old lifeboat station at Fisherman's Dock saw 92 years of active service before being converted into a museum. Key events in the station's history: In October 1884, James Hughes, a member of the lifeboat crew, fell in front of the main wheels of the carriage whilst getting out of the lifeboat after an exercise, and was killed. Old Lifeboat Station, Poole, November 2022 The old lifeboat station on Poole Quay (Dorset, England) housed the town's lifeboat from 1882 to 1974, and is now a museum. The new station is situated on the western end of the quay near the lifting bridge. Poole is also home to the RNLI college where crews and lifeguards from around the UK and Ireland are trained. Date: 11th November 2022.
